ACCOMMODATIONS

Wood Cabins

At Tinhela610, our cabins are more than places to sleep — they are doorways back to yourself. Set deep in the wild hills of northern Portugal, surrounded by stone, trees, big skies and the flowing Tinhela River, each cabin invites stillness, reflection and rest. Here, architect Luis Rebelo de Andrade bows to nature: wood and granite, sunlight and shadow, simplicity and care. Time loosens its grip, and what remains is space — to breathe, to listen, to dream.

Our philosophy is simple: comfort is not abundance, but alignment. We offer eco-luxury in its purest form — silence, natural beauty, and the pleasure of being completely off-grid. The cabins were built by hand, with the land’s own rhythm, and carry the scent of pine, the warmth of wool, and the whisper of water.

Features of Our Cabins

Each of our wood cabins for two is crafted from local, sweet-

scented wood and designed within a Fibonacci-inspired spiral that reflects nature’s harmony. At 15 square meters, they hold every-thing essential, nothing superfluous. A handcrafted double or

twin beds with Coco-Mat natural mattress invites deep,

restorative sleep. Fine Portuguese linens, blackout curtains, and

soft wool blankets ensure comfort through the shifting seasons.

Two large windows open onto the untamed beauty of our valley — oak trees, wild grasses, river mists. Built-in shelving and generous under-bed storage make space for simplicity. A delicate porcelain sink allows for morning and evening rituals using water fetched in enamel pitchers from our stone fountain — a practice that

grounds you, reminding you of the gift that water truly is.

Inside each cabin, a wooden bench by the window desk offers a quiet corner for writing, drawing, or simply being. Nearby, our Japanese-inspired bathhouse and Finnish wood-burning sauna welcome you to bathe and renew in the purest of ways. Four ecological toilets are discreetly placed around the property to preserve both comfort and harmony with the land.

Our Facilities

Life at Tinhela610 unfolds in rhythm with the valley. The heart of our sanctuary is the Mill Be Zen Den — a restored stone mill perched above the river, with a large panoramic window (2m x 1.8m) framing the rushing river water. Inside, a wood fire glows, offering space for reflection, reading, or quiet companionship. Retreat leaders hold talks, guide meditation or breathwork sessions in Mill Be as well.

Scattered through the land are spaces for movement, meditation, and gathering: an outdoor platform by the river’s edge, a high meditation deck with sweeping views, a communal dining area with a three-meter oak table, and the Mill Ahh boutique nestled in stone. Three hidden hammocks next to the source or the river, our Field of Dreams-- a natural outdoor circular garden spacef or standing practices or seated ceremonies along winding trails that invite solitude and discovery.  Our Glamping Tent, found in Fairyland, next to the source stream, like Mill Be, can hold many different activities from movement to meditation in a covered space.

Nourishment for a Stay You Won’t Forget

Meals are central to life here — moments of nourishment and connection. Our communal dining room, anchored by a three-meter oak table facing sky, cliffs and flowing water is our base.  Meals are prepared with ingredients from our permaculture gardens or local producers; vegetables and herbs, mountain honey, organic meats and fish, and wines from nearby vineyards. Cuisine style follows good "gut health/microbiome" rules and can be vegetarian or flexitarian.  Ingredients are locally sourced as much as possible and often from our own permaculture gardens.

Mornings begin with herbal tisanes or robust coffee; a hearty brunch follows movement, healthy afternoon snack then the glorious evening meal, which can also unfold outdoors under the night sky.

Evenings draw guests together around our circular Fibonacci hearth fire pit — places of conversation, reflection, and ceremony. Around you, the forest hums, the stars shimmer, and silence deepens into belonging.

To stay at Tinhela610 is to remember what being in nature is like the warmth of wood, the scent of rain, the sound of stillness. This is not an escape. It is a return, to nature, to presence, to yourself.
